    Have you ever wondered…

Who volunteers the most in Scotland?

Who gains the most from volunteering?

Which groups are poorly represented when it comes to volunteering in Scotland, and what could be done to increase their participation?

Midlothian TSI will be exploring these questions and more in a special one-off seminar with Matthew Linning and Deborah Maltman of Volunteer Scotland. Matthew and Debbie will share findings from their research published in 2021 exploring ‘Who contributes the most to volunteering in Scotland?’. Using data from the Scottish Household Survey related to volunteering frequency and intensity, their analysis challenges our understanding of volunteer engagement across different demographic groups including age, gender, deprivation, income, education and health. This seminar will be of relevance to anyone with an interest in volunteering policy and practice, particularly those looking to promote the development of grassroots volunteering activity in Scottish communities.
