Volunteer’s Week
Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK, taking place from the 1-7 June each year. We actively encourage local organisations to celebrate the hard work and commitment of their volunteers during Volunteers’ Week.

Midlothian Volunteers’ Week Awards Ceremony
Our 2019 awards ceremony took place on Thursday 6 June 2019 at Newbattle Abbey College. In 2020, our planned event had to be cancelled due to the pandemic, but we ran a social media campaign with partners to highlight the amazing work that volunteers in Midlothian had been doing as part of the community response to COVID-19.
We haven’t yet decided how to celebrate Volunteer’s Week in 2021, given the changeable nature of current circumstances. We do of course hope to celebrate in person. If that’s not possible, be prepared for a virtual extravaganza of old favourites and new award categories to raise awareness of local volunteering during these unprecedented times.
Sponsors & Supporters
Our Volunteers’ Week celebrations would not be possible without the generous support of Newbattle Abbey College and our event sponsors: EDF Energy, Midlothian Council Communities Team, Midlothian Council Communities and Lifelong Learning, Midlothian Health and Social Care Partnership, Police Scotland, The Rotary Club of Esk Valley and the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
